Membership and community are key to the LPA pursuing and achieving its goals. We have placed new emphasis on increasing the awareness and visibility of the LPA within the Placitas community. The logical place to start with this goal is in defining, retaining, and communicating with our current members.

In October 2004 we consolidated and converted our membership lists into an Access database. We then sent mailers to everyone who had paid membership dues or made a contribution from January 2003 on. Based on the response to the mailers we were able to get an accurate list of current members along with addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses.

We now use our database to generate thank you notes for member dues/contributions as well as membership renewal reminders.In the near future, we will use our database to contact those members who have indicated an interest in helping out with LPA activities.

We'd like to give our members the opportunity to participate in a more active, "hands on" way. We will then turn our focus to obtaining new members while continuing to remain in contact with our current members.
