Our main focus has been on the 560 acres that has been designated the Placitas Open Space (see Background for details). However there are other public lands in Placitas that are managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). These include 4000 acres immediately adjacent to the POS as well as another 200 acre parcel that is located near the Cedar Creek subdivision. LPA has worked and will continue to work with the BLM to protect these areas as open space.
We are watching with great interest the land exchange proposal involving the State of New Mexico and the Santo Dominago Pueblo which would make the Crest of Montezuma lands available for public use.
